Best practice in
everything we do

  • We ensure all relevant staff undergo enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
  • We provide comprehensive training for all new starters in safeguarding, disability awareness and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • All our energy advisors are qualified to City and Guilds Level 3.

Meet the team

We live and breathe our values in everything we do:

Ellen Shipley

My name is Ellen Shipley and I’m the Chief Executive Officer of Live Inclusive. I joined Live Inclusive in November 2016, starting out as a Project Manager and progressing to CEO in October 2018. The best part of my job is supporting our amazing Team! They are all dedicated, passionate, and very caring individuals. I’m driven by their energy and enthusiasm. I also take great pleasure in working with our Board of Trustees, who are very supportive and equally passionate about improving the lives of our disabled community.

Iyete Apeji

I am Iyete (pronounced eeyete) Apeji and I have worked with Live Inclusive as the Project Manager for the Reach Out, Rebuild and Recover Project since January 2022.
The team is amazing, each person is committed to serving our clients. They are diligent, hardworking and caring people. It all makes for a wonderful work environment.

I love reading books, watching movies and spending time with my family.

Sallie Mockler

Administrator

My name is Sallie. I am an Administrator at Live Inclusive and work closely with our C.E.O. I have worked in this sector for over 12 years and since January 2022 at Live Inclusive.

I really enjoy working at Live Inclusive because we are all so passionate about helping our community and support each other to provide friendly, professional support, which really does make a difference.

Amongst other things I enjoy spending time with family and friends, baking, travelling, art and theatre and I am an avid reader. I also provide a lot of support to my family, old and young.

Jane Kidd

Volunteer Coordinator

I’m Jane Kidd and I have worked for Live Inclusive since 2006 when it was South Yorkshire Centre for Inclusive Living (SYCIL). I have held many different roles over the years.

I am currently the Volunteer Coordinator for Live Inclusive and I also organise the Inclusive Voices user group. This provides a  great opportunity for disabled people to get together to share information and socialise, and gives them a collective voice to influence the services we deliver. They also take part in consultations run by our partners.

The key word for me is inclusivity – that is what motivates me most about working for Live Inclusive.

Outside of my work with Live Inclusive, I am an elected Doncaster City Councillor and in my spare time, I love eating out with friends, walking with my husband, and reading.

Julie Hodgkinson

Enabling and Volunteer Coordinator (Rotherham Area)

I’m Julie Hodgkinson, I joined Live Inclusive in May 2019 following 18 years of experience in varying roles within the Rotherham Voluntary and Community Sector (VSC).

My primary role with Live Inclusive is the coordination and delivery of our Rotherham based befriending and enabling service, this is part of the wider Social Prescribing Service. I also look after our fantastic volunteer team within Rotherham – who provide incredible support to a number of our patients.

I’m a very passionate Rotherham United Fan – this emotional roller-coaster takes me and my family up and down the country cheering them on!

Sharon Adams

Benefits Advice and Information Support Worker

Hi!  My name is Sharon Adams.  I have just returned to Live Inclusive to work as a Benefits Information & Advice Worker.   Our service is open to anyone with a disability or long-term condition living in the Doncaster area.  We provide a home visiting service so that people with disabilities don’t face extra barriers in applying for the right benefits.

I love Live Inclusive’s approach to supporting people.   The Team is very friendly, positive and flexible – we go the extra mile for people.

In my spare time I love to keep fit by walking my dog and practicing yoga.

Jacqui Sharpe

Benefits Advice and Information Support Worker

Hi, my name is Jacqui and I have recently joined Live Inclusive to offer Benefit Advice and Support, building on previous advisory roles.
I am excited to be part of a new initiative, Stronger Links, created to support Edlington and Hexthorpe residents.
Having recently moved back to Doncaster I am really enjoying exploring the area, walking and hiking with our rescue dog. I enjoy the gym and recently have begun to try to run regularly.

Charlotte Hibbitt

Community Connector & Community Engagement Worker

I am Charlotte, a Community Connector & Community Engagement Worker for Live Inclusive. I have personal experience of disability in that I am 100% deaf in both ears and I wear a Cochlear Implant in my left ear.

I have worked at Live Inclusive since June 2021, and have very much enjoyed my time here. The team are very friendly and supportive, and I love the fact that we do make a difference in the lives of our clients.

Working with them has broadened my perspective on how people live their daily lives with disability, and this in turn has helped me.
In my spare time, I love gaming, sewing and arts and crafts.

Our Trustees

Allan Hornsby

Trustee

I am now retired and spent all of my working life, from leaving school, in manufacturing.  I first joined Live Inclusive as a Trustee when we were called The South Yorkshire Centre for Inclusive Living (SYCIL) in 2014.  I have been involved in supporting community groups for many years.  Live Inclusive has always been an Organisation that has a big impact for the disabled community, and anyone with a long-term health condition.  It's why I've worked with the Charity for the last 9 years!  I am an avid sports watcher in my spare time!

Rochelle Dawes

I am the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Live Inclusive. I started my journey with Live Inclusive as a service user, then a volunteer and eventually the chair of the board of trustees. I am interested in the possibility of improving the lives of people with disabilities; like myself. In my spare time I am an avid reader; especially true crime novels.

Chris Smith

Trustee

Hello, my name is Chris Smith and for the last few years, I have been volunteering with Live Inclusive. I was then invited to join the board and become a trustee.  In this role, I have been able to use my experience gained working for two major charities to add to the knowledge base of the board. I enjoy the strong sense of teamwork at Live Inclusive and am only too happy to contribute to the great work that we do in the local community
